CEDIA Education: Members Speak

Our members share with us the CEDIA benefits they value the most; those that help their businesses thrive year after year. In this post, we focus on CEDIA’s Education Program.

The numbers are in: CEDIA made a pretty big leap in the Education department in 2017.

  • 6,300 industry folks attended in-person training sessions last year.
  • Individual course registrations saw a 19% jump at CEDIA Expo in 2017, while ISE 2017 posted a 125% gain and Integrate (Australia) saw an increase of 155%.
  • Training events were held in 11 countries.
  • Online offerings were a hit, too: 3,986 classes were taken.
  • And those digital courses were consumed across 47 countries.

As we’ve mentioned, CEDIA has made it a point to take courses — including certification reviews and exams — on the road of late, and that face-to-face training complements CEDIA’s online offerings quite nicely.

Lutron’s Sam Woodward has high praise for the quality of the offerings: “At Lutron, I teach lighting controls. But I really need our customers have a great understanding of networking, and CEDIA has possibly the best networking course out there. And so, I always encourage people to take the CEDIA training before they come and see me because then I know that they're going to be somebody that I can really work with.”

As the owner of an integration firm, Henry Clifford sees CEDIA training as an investment, and the cachet of the brand is invaluable: “CEDIA education is known throughout the country and the world as being top-notch.”

Archimedia’s Sherry Edward raves about the in-person offerings at CEDIA Expo: “It's really focused, and there’s a lot of hands-on experience. There's so many people from all over the world doing the same thing, and then you get to sit and share ideas. It's not just someone dictating some text to you.”

Michell Klein of the Z-Wave Alliance appreciates the constant updates that the CEDIA staff make to the coursework. “The technology moves so fast, what I knew yesterday ... well, there's more to know today. I know tomorrow it's gonna be different again. Who keeps up? Where do you get that education? Here at CEDIA.”
