Sound Off: How Would You Change CEDIA’s Awards?

The unveiling of CEDIA’s 2013 Electronic Lifestyles® Awards winners is coming soon! Well, in about four months.

But for the CEDIA members on the judging committee who are organizing and evaluating entries, those four months will fly by. Next thing we know, all the industry bigwigs (and me) will be lined up to see who pulls out a big win.

When I look at the award entrants’ photos, I see a thing of beauty: the creative design features and the lovely fabrics. When the awards judges look at the engineering documents and the back-of-the-rack photos, they see their own idea of beauty. I’ve even seen an emotionally charged tear…but the judging door is sealed and I’ll never tell.

All this awards talk gets me thinking: Is there anyone out there in CEDIA-land who would like to see changes in the awards process? What is recognized? How? And if you don’t participate, why? We are always looking to improve the program and make sure it reflects the work CEDIA members do, so please share your feedback.

It may be too late for 2013 awards changes, but never fear - 2014 is not far away. CEDIA is your association; make the changes you want to see.
