Heads-Up: Your Company May Be Required to Post this New Notice

Updated April 18, 2012: On Friday, April 13, a federal district court in South Carolina struck down the National Labor Relations Board’s rule requiring the posting of employee rights, which had been scheduled to take effect on April 30, 2012.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has granted the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace’s request for an injunction, delaying the effective date in this matter until the Court has a chance to hear arguments and issue a ruling. Effectively, this means that the April 30 date is no longer valid. CEDIA is a member of the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and will continue to monitor this issue.

CEDIA's Public Policy department has a quick heads-up for you about a new requirement from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that impacts most CEDIA member companies.

As of April 30, 2012, the NLRB requires most private sector employers to post a notice advising employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

The notice should be posted in a conspicuous place, where other notifications of workplace rights and employer rules and policies are posted. Employers also should publish a link to the notice on an internal or external website if other personnel policies or workplace notices are posted there.

The poster is required to be 11 x 17 inches, in color or in black-and-white. When printing to full size, be sure to set your printer output to 11 x 17. Or you may print the two 8.5 x 11 pages and tape them together.
