Biography

Michael Heiss

M. Heiss Consulting

Widely respected throughout the consumer electronics and custom integration industries as a product and technology expert, Michael Heiss has close to forty years of experience in guiding the development, production and marketing of new technology products and services. Michael is currently the principal in his own consulting practice serving the manufacturers, suppliers and brands with advice on the application and marketing of audio/video and content-based services. He has previously held senior management, marketing and technology development positions at leading global hardware and software firms.

The author of four books on video technology he is a Contributing Editor Residential Systems and is also the US Correspondent for HiddenWires.com, the leading on-line publication for the custom installation trade in the UK and Europe A contributeor many other trade newsletters and magazines and quoted as a consumer electronics authority by the BBC’s "Click", Investor’s Business Daily, the Wall Street Journal, the AP and the Los Angeles Times, Michael is a frequent panelist, seminar moderator and lecturer at global trade industry events and is sought after for presentations to dealers, distributors and buying groups.

A member of numerous engineering, technical and communications societies, including ATAS, SMPTE, SBE, IEEE, SID and STC he is also member of the Order of the Iron Test Pattern with the Dignity of Brigadier. Michael has been an active part of CEDIA since its inception, serving two terms on their Board of Directors and he is currently the Chair of CEDIA’s Technology Council. His contributions were recognized by his being named the inaugural class of CEDIA Fellows.

Michael Heiss is based in Los Angeles, CA, where he lives with his wife, Leslie Nathan, AIA, an architect and the Executive Director of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Their son Daniel is the Associate Director of Development/Athletics for the University of California, Riverside.
