With more A/V, mobile device, appliance, HVAC, and lighting products becoming connected as part of the overall ‘Internet of Things,’ it is imperative to fully understand Internet Protocol, which forms the backbone of any home network. This class is ideal for both beginners and individuals looking to formalize their IP knowledge base.

This class covers the fundamentals of IP networks including the advantages and growth of IP networking; common network protocols (TCP, UDP, IP, DHCP, and NAT); and the appropriate steps of selecting, creating, installing, configuring, implementing, and documenting basic routers in a home network.

Before attending this class, students should have a working knowledge of basic computing fundamentals; typing, web browsing, and changing computer settings and command line access; simple math and basic logical reasoning; and cabling infrastructures.

This eCourse consists of an in-depth lecture of course content segmented in small, organized chunks and married with additional material. Types of material in this course include:
