In 2011, CEDIA embarked on a landmark research project to provide the residential custom electronic systems industry with market data that had been long needed to help answer some of the industry’s biggest questions. Historically, there has been little data available that was specific to the custom channel and how the channel is represented in the larger residential electronics systems market. CEDIA is strongly committed to providing the information industry stakeholders need to build stronger companies.

The Size & Scope of the Residential Electronic Systems Market in the US 2012© is now in collection and development. As in 2011, the project will focus on the following objectives:

• Estimate the number of companies currently installing industry products, broken down by dealer channel

• Determine the size of the workforce that the industry represents

• Evaluate the total economic value of installation in the residential electronics systems industry

• Identify each dealer channel’s level of significance in the industry by product category

• Report on general market conditions and forecasting

• 

  Provide trend analysis to indicate how the industry is changing

Key findings will be available near the end of the year by request from this webpage. However, participants, and only participants, in the study will receive copies of the report.

What do I get for participating?

• Participating US manufacturers will get a full copy of the report including: the aggregate data from the installer surveys and the aggregate data from the manufacturer data collection

• Participating US residential electronics installers will get a copy of the report of aggregate data from the installer surveys and entered into a drawing to win a free IPad.

Absolutely! CEDIA and Parks Associates, our research vendor for this project, have gone to great lengths to ensure that your data is protected. No CEDIA staff, member, or volunteer will ever have access to your information. All data is stored on secured servers and coded without your name/company name to provide the strongest protection. We are also happy to provide you with a confidentiality agreement.

How do I participate?

Email research@cedia.org from the email address that you would like the survey link sent to.

What are the dates for participation?

• The survey of US residential electronics installation companies  will be available beginning June 6 and close July 16.

• Data submission for US based manufacturers will begin May 16 and end July 16.

When will the report be provided?

The report should be finished in late September. It will be emailed to participants when completed.
