Dealer Market Share Analysis 2012

Every year CEDIA provides residential electronic systems industry manufacturers and distributors the opportunity to know what their share of the dealer market is in the U.S. (broken down by region, state, and select metro area) and how many are CEDIA members.

In 2011, 41 of the industry’s leading manufacturers and distributors across the U.S. participated in this project to receive a custom report for their company for FREE. The custom report generated is an extremely valuable tool that can help your sales team focus their energy and resources on the most lucrative areas to increase your market share.

What is the methodology?

All participating manufacturers and distributors submit their RESIDENTIAL ONLY dealer list to the project vendor, Agresta Storms & O’Leary, via email in an Excel file. In addition, CEDIA submits the CEDIA membership list and EXPO attendee list. All of the lists are combined and duplicates removed.

Each participants list is then compared to the aggregate list to determine their unique share.

The custom report provided ONLY includes the participating company’s share percentage. The dealer contact information from other participant lists is not provided to anyone, including CEDIA. The project vendor deletes all files at the end of the project each year.

We estimate that our margin of error is approximately +/- 10%.

How do I participate?

Submit your RESIDENTIAL ONLY dealer list in an Excel file to Agresta Storms & O’Leary via email at pagresta@asocpa.com by the close of the project – July 16th. Your Excel file must contain the following fields to allow for duplicate identification: company name, DBA (if available), address, city, state, zip, country, main contact, and main contact email.

Will my list be confidential?

Absolutely! CEDIA has hired an accounting firm to manage this project to provide all participants with the greatest level of confidentiality. No CEDIA staff, member, volunteer, or other participant will ever have access to your list. We are also happy to provide you with a confidentiality agreement upon request.

What are the dates for participation?

Dealer list submission for US based manufacturers and distributors will begin May 16 and end July 16.

When will the custom report be provided?

The report will be emailed back to you from the confidential project vendor, Agresta Storms & O’Leary, in early August.
