Major recording labels and studios view emerging digital technology as a threat to their business models. As the technological landscape changes, these companies are pressing legislators to ban devices that allow consumers to enjoy digital media at their convenience.

In response, a broad group of consumers, artists, innovators, and technology companies have created the Digital Freedom Campaign. This campaign seeks to protect the individual’s right to use digital technology free of unreasonable government restrictions or the threat of costly lawsuits from major recording labels and movie studios.
