CEDIA LEGISLATIVE ALERT
For Manufacturers of Video Displays & Computers

Manufacturer registration deadline: January 5, 2007

The state of Washington adopted an electronics recycling law. This law requires that computer and television manufacturers provide recycling for their covered electronic products.

Additionally, this program requires that manufacturers of all televisions, computers, laptops, portable computers, and computer monitors register with the state Department of Ecology in order to sell their products in or into Washington.

The deadline to register with the Washington State Department of Ecology is January 5, 2007.

Note: After 5:00 p.m. PST on January 5, 2007, all manufacturers must be registered and pay a yearly administrative fee.

What to do?

Register your company with the Washington State Department of Ecology and submit an administrative fee each year. Failing to register and pay the fee, results in the inability to sell in or into Washington State to any covered entries after January 5, 2007.

Remember - the individual responsible for implementing the company’s requirements under the Washington Electronic Product Recycling Program must submit the registration form.
