The provisions of 2007 Iowa Acts, House File 897 which establish the new certification program for alarm system contractors and installers took effect on January 1, 2008. The effective date of these rules will occur on October 1, 2008.

Please keep in mind that in order to begin or continue working in the alarm system business after October 1, 2008, you must have submitted your application and fee to the following address:

Between October 1, 2008 and January 1, 2009, you may continue to practice without having your certification in hand as the department processes your application and fingerprint cards.

When the department receives your application, the department will immediately mail you a fingerprint card that will include instructions on how to obtain your fingerprints and where to send the completed card.
