St. Joseph County (IN) Public Hearing
on Low-Voltage Contractor Registration
TO: All Electronic Systems Contractors in Indiana and Michigan
On February 10, 2009, the St. Joseph County Council passed Ordinance #14-09 which, among other things, amended various fees charged by the Building Department. After performing a detailed review of Ordinance #14-09 regulating the fees for low-voltage permits, it has been determined that the fees need to be readjusted and recodified to reflect the actual cost of enforcing and inspecting low-voltage installations.
The county ordinance would establish a low-voltage exam requirement, low-voltage contractor’s registration, and permit requirements.
The county ordinance is set for a committee hearing on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. The committee hearing will follow the County Council’s budget hearing. The budget hearing begins at 5:30 pm. The committee hearing will take place at the County City Building in Room 411 following the budget hearing.
