CEDIA’s “Train the Trainer” Program Builds Business and Industry Relationships
Indianapolis (July 10, 2008) — One of the unique values of being a Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) member is the Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) “Train the Trainer” course. This unique program allows an ROI to invite regional architecture and building design professionals to his or her firm or business to earn Learning Units (LU), in turn fostering industry partnerships.
The “Train the Trainer” course will be held at CEDIA Headquarters in Indianapolis August 7 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. through August 8 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
The “Train the Trainer” class prepares CEDIA members to teach continuing education classes to members of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). To stay current and up-to-date with the best industry practices, AIA and AIBD professionals take advantage of continuing education opportunities such as the ROI curriculum.
By using CEDIA’s already-developed AIA registered courses ROI’s offer industry partners the chance to network with industry peers without the cost of course development and approval.
“As a CEDIA ROI, I have the opportunity to extend network ties through education and personal relationships,” Josh Christian, vice president of marketing at DSI Entertainment Systems said. “Increasing industry ties not only benefits professionals, but will ensure consumers are receiving the best in home electronic integration from start to finish.”
As an ROI, professionals must successfully complete the “Train the Trainer” course and present a class at least twice a year while maintaining a minimum evaluation score. The registration fee for the class is $250 and is limited to 35 members.
CEDIA members who are currently ROI’s are grandfathered into the new program and can take the “Train the Trainer” course for free to maintain their ROI status until December 31, 2008.
CEDIA members interested in registering for the “Train the Trainer” program may visit the Member’s Only section at www.cedia.org and select the “Industry Outreach” tab. Questions may be directed to Peggy Ward, CEDIA’s industry outreach education manager at (800)669-5329 x164 or pward@cedia.org.
