• The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) includes more than 3,000 member companies worldwide that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems for the home.

• CEDIA is the leading source of education for the custom electronics industry and has certified more than 2,000 industry professionals. 

• According to a survey of 1,000 American adults, 87 percent reported they would seek the help of a qualified and certified professional to install a home networking system. 

• Many Americans who are building a home consider the benefits of structured wiring. According to the National Association of Home Builders, 34 percent of builders offer structured wiring packages as standard or optional amenities. 

• A survey of more than 315 CEDIA members in 2004 indicated that business for distributed audio and video, lighting control, home automation and home theaters is expected to continue to grow in 2004. Seventy-four percent of the survey respondents reported intend to hire more employees in 2005. 

• According to a survey conducted by CEDIA in 2004 of 315 CEDIA members, more than 71 percent said business improved greatly or moderately in 2004 compared to 2003. Only eight percent said business was getting worse or much worse. 

• CEDIA members reported that home theaters will lead sales growth in 2005, followed by home automation, lighting control, and distributed audio.
