Technicians to Test Skills in CEDIA University/ADILearning Labs EST Skill Challenge

Participants race against each other and the clock; daily prizes awarded

INDIANAPOLIS (September 15, 2010)—Electronic systems technicians will test their on-the-job skills in the new EST Skill Challenge competition at the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) EXPO next week. Participants will compete to prove their ability to perform quality work quickly and efficiently. Session prizes will be awarded for the fastest times on individual challenges, with first, second, and third grand prizes to be announced at the annual Electronic Lifestyles® Awards Banquet Saturday, September 25.

The EST Skill Challenge will take place outside the ADI-sponsored CEDIA University Learning Labs, using many of the same products and technologies featured in the labs. The Learning Labs are a series of four rooms designed to provide valuable hands-on training at CEDIA EXPO. This year’s labs include a Cable, Connector & Testing Lab; a Computer Lab; an Audio & Component Installation Lab; and a Video Display Technology & Calibration Lab. The Learning Labs are linked to 12 CEDIA University courses at the show.

“The ADI-sponsored Learning Labs at CEDIA EXPO reinforce the concepts taught in CEDIA University classrooms with hands-on experience,” said Ken Erdmann, CEDIA Chairman. “The EST Skill Challenge will take the Learning Labs experience one step further, as attendees engage in friendly competition for prizes and bragging rights.”

The CEDIA University/ADI Learning Labs will be located in rooms B208-211 at the Georgia World Congress Center. EST Skill Challenge competition events will be held at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 23; at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Fri., Sept. 24; and at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sat., Sept. 25. Media are invited to attend an EST Skill Challenge kick-off event at 2:30 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 23.
