What Is a CEDIA Registered Outreach Instructor?

Registered Outreach Instructors (ROIs) are CEDIA Members who have attended the “Train the Trainer” course, and passed a written test and a peer-evaluated presentation session.  Successful completion of these requirements enables participants to deliver CEDIA-developed industry partner education.

The “Train the Trainer” program gives CEDIA Members the tools they need to deliver quality presentations and enables them to present relevant and timely education to industry partners within their geographic regions.  Since the program’s inception in 2006, it has grown to over 150 ROIs in 35 states and three Canadian provinces.

In order to maintain this CEDIA designation, ROIs are required to follow strict guidelines that include timely submission of participant attendance for reporting to industry partner associations, meeting firm deadlines for registering upcoming classes, maintaining minimum evaluation ratings, and conducting a minimum number of classes per calendar year. The ROI program has been deemed one of CEDIA’s most valuable member benefits and continues to grow with every “Train the Trainer” session.

CEDIA is an approved provider of continuing education for the following groups:

  • American Institute of Architects (AIA)

  • American Institute of Building Design (AIBD)

  • National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)

  • National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)

  • American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)

  • International Interior Design Association (IIDA)

  • Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC)

  • Interior Designers of Canada (IDC)

Additionally, many Canadian industry partner groups offer reciprocal continuing education credit on already-approved education through other, comparable groups.  All members of these industry partner associations receive continuing education credit for attending ROI-administered classes while gaining resources in the residential technologies industry.
