Mike Maniscalco, who led CEDIA’s most recent Advanced Networking Boot Camp
, was happy to help develop the curriculum for the three-day intensive session that recently wrapped at CEDIA’s central training facility.
It’s clearly a point of pride for Mike, who developed his remote networking management firm Ihiji at a time when “everyone said networking was unreliable.”
“I enjoy the teaching,” says Mike. “For a lot of these [tech pros], it’s got to be a core competency.”
Maniscalco worked hand-in-hand with the CEDIA team to develop the coursework, and it’s a manner of returning a favor: a management course offered by CEDIA helped spark the concept of Mike’s current business model as he made the leap from integrator to networking expert.
The course, which includes hands-on labs and covers everything from troubleshooting to security, has grown in popularity as ever-larger numbers of devices in the home become “smart.”
The other impact the growth of networking skills has on the industry? More and more integrators are entering the field from IT and telecommunications backgrounds, according to Mike.
