When I joined the Education team at CEDIA six years ago, I never expected I would have the opportunity for so much international travel. But as markets in all corners of the globe grow and evolve, so does their need for CEDIA training and certification.
Last month I had the opportunity to see this growth first-hand, in Beijing and Shanghai, China. We did two-day education events in both cities and I got to teach home theater design and small room acoustics to some very enthusiastic industry professionals. The participants were eager to learn and put their new knowledge to work.
(My translators were great, but it is amazing how four words in English can turn into a lengthy monologue in Mandarin. I wonder what he was saying…?)
Like most markets, China has high-end projects with full-blown automation AND a growing middle class looking for quality entertainment and control solutions at a moderate price point. We are going back to China in the fall for a show with more education and manufacturer exhibits. We will also be in Moscow for the Integrated Systems Russia show in October. Meanwhile the London office is doing events in locations like France and South Africa.
Markets like these have been growing and evolving the last few years and are providing great opportunities for integrators - and for CEDIA. We now have four offices worldwide and are continuing to establish ourselves as the global voice of authority on residential systems. The world is getting smaller, and CEDIA is everywhere!
