CEDIA Offers Tips to Help Attendees Make the Most of EXPO

Suggestions for efficient use of time and resources as event approaches

INDIANAPOLIS (August 5, 2009)—The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) is offering tips for attendees hoping to make the most of the upcoming CEDIA EXPO 2009, taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta Sept. 9–13. The tips are designed to help attendees make efficient use of time and resources at the show in the face of a challenging economy.

New for 2009, CEDIA has partnered with Map Your Show, an interactive planning service that allows attendees to view floor plans and exhibitor lists, map show floor routes and develop a schedule that includes meetings, booth visits, special events and educational sessions. This service can help ensure attendees make the best possible use of their time at the event by minimizing downtime and accomplishing set goals for networking and education. Map Your Show is available at www.cedia.org/mapyourshow.

CEDIA has also assembled resources for helping attendees navigate Atlanta during EXPO’s first visit to the city in 10 years. A one-page PDF at www.cedia.org/expo/documents/navigating_expo.pdf outlines key information on hotels, shuttles and public transit. Additional information on the Georgia World Congress Center and surrounding area can be found at www.cedia.org/expo/GWCC.php, while general Atlanta tips are available at www.cedia.org/expo/expo.aboutatlanta.php.

In order to help minimize the costs of attending the show, CEDIA has also allowed for attendees to get all they need in 48 hours. CEDIA University has added intensive Sunday-only education this year, including a Retrofit Super Session and a panel discussion on a hot topic (currently TBD) in the industry. Free shuttles from the Georgia World Congress Center to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be available Sunday. A brief weekend trip also minimizes hotel costs and avoids taking time out of the crucial work week, while still offering 13 hours of tradeshow floor activity and more than 200 potential hours of education.

CEDIA will also offer hands-on experience in selected courses to help attendees stretch the value of their education investment. CEDIA University’s Learning Labs, made possible with support from ADI, will allow participants in 23 education sessions to apply the techniques they learn in the classroom in a lab environment. CEDIA will offer four labs: Cable, Connector & Testing, Audio & Component Installation, Video Technology & Calibration, and Computer. Learning Labs will also be open to all attendees from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., Sept. 13.

CEDIA EXPO will be held Sept. 9–13 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Pre-registration is available until Thurs., Sept. 3 at www.cedia.org/expo.
