Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Atlanta's warm climate allows for year-round outdoor excursions, as well as enjoyable sightseeing weather. Sales and Hotel Tax Rates
The local sales tax rate is 8%. Total hotel tax = 15% (4% State Sales tax, 7% Occupancy Tax and 4% City Sales Tax).
Speed Limits
The State of Georgia Speed Restriction Code states that “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing.”
The maximum per hour speed in any urban or residential district is thirty miles per hour. All interstate highways inside the perimeter have a maximum speed limit of fifty-five miles per hour. Provided that such speed limit is designated by appropriate signs, all other highways have a maximum speed of seventy miles per hour. All other locations, unless designated otherwise, have a maximum speed of fifty-five miles per hour.
