Since forming in 1986 in Buffalo NY, the Goo Goo Dolls have evolved from a punk-rock opening act to the chart-topping rock band behind such singles, “Name,” “Iris,” “Slide,” and “Here is Gone.” Their sixth album, A Boy Named Goo, offered the mega-hit single “Name,” a song that propelled them into the spotlight and inevitably changed the band’s course forever. Lead singer John Rzeznik, guitarist Robby Takac, and drummer Mike Malinin followed-up their breakthrough album with 1998’s Dizzy Up the Girl, scoring the Goo Goo Dolls another round of chart hits with “Slide” and “Iris,” a monster power ballad written for the City of Angels soundtrack. The bands latest album, Let Love In, released in 2006, was a return to form for the band with radio hits, “Better Days” and “Give A Little Bit.”
