The course covers the basic techniques of retrofit installation of telecom, A/V and low-voltage cable in typical U.S. residential house construction. It includes retrofit installation planning, installation techniques for different types of construction, and the use of specialized retrofit installation tools. The course starts with an overview of typical house framing and construction to familiarize the attendee with locations appropriate and not appropriate for running wires, then covers all the categories of special retrofit tools needed to do a first class retrofit and how to use them, followed by demonstrations of the most common retrofit installation procedures using the latest cool tools. In class demonstrations of typical retrofit techniques will be shown with class participation on a framed set.
This seminar is intended for anyone needing a complete understanding of how to perform cabling and equipment installation in existing homes. It assumes you have experience with basic installation techniques in new home construction.
