Electronic Systems Technician Home Theater Boot Camp
(previously known as Electronic Systems Technician Advanced Residential Boot Camp)
“Things that I learned here are things that I would have never learned on the job. I highly recommend boot camp, great experience, friendly, not high pressure, always room for questions. You can’t put a price on the experience.” - Alexander Bruni- Paragon Interior Innovations Inc., Utica, NY
CEDIA’s EST Home Theater Boot Camp (previously known as EST Advanced Residential Boot Camp) is an advanced, three-day workshop offered at CEDIA’s Indianapolis Training Facility. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the home theater installation process, which includes several hours of hands-on lab activities.
The goal of this specialized training is to provide the attendee with the knowledge and skills necessary to properly install, setup, and calibrate a typical home theater or media room system. Participants should already have a basic knowledge of the home theater concept and the equipment needed to deliver the cinema experience. Upon completion of the course, attendees should be able to:
Describe the digital and analog signals and formats currently used in audio and video systems and how they are processed and used within the system
Describe the function of various audio and video interconnects
Understand the basics of room acoustics, acoustical treatment, and sound transmission issues
Install components in a professional rack configuration, taking into consideration thermal management and ergonomics
Utilize proper documentation and labeling of the installation
Install and mount a projector, flat panel display, and loudspeakers according to recognized industry standards (CEDIA Technical Reference Manual and CEA/CEDIA Recommended Practices)
Perform basic audio and video calibration to ensure optimum system performance
