Electronic Systems Technician Home Theater Boot Camp

(previously known as Electronic Systems Technician Advanced Residential Boot Camp)

Things that I learned here are things that I would have never learned on the job. I highly recommend boot camp, great experience, friendly, not high pressure, always room for questions. You can’t put a price on the experience.” -
Alexander Bruni- Paragon Interior Innovations Inc., Utica, NY

CEDIA’s EST Home Theater Boot Camp (previously known as EST Advanced Residential Boot Camp) is an advanced, three-day workshop offered at CEDIA’s Indianapolis Training Facility.  This course provides a comprehensive overview of the home theater installation process, which includes several hours of hands-on lab activities.

The goal of this specialized training is to provide the attendee with the knowledge and skills necessary to properly install, setup, and calibrate a typical home theater or media room system. Participants should already have a basic knowledge of the home theater concept and the equipment needed to deliver the cinema experience. Upon completion of the course, attendees should be able to:

  • Describe the digital and analog signals and formats currently used in audio and video systems and how they are processed and used within the system

  • Describe the function of various audio and video interconnects

  • Understand the basics of room acoustics, acoustical treatment, and sound transmission issues

  • Install components in a professional rack configuration, taking into consideration thermal management and ergonomics

  • Utilize proper documentation and labeling of the installation

  • Install and mount a projector, flat panel display, and loudspeakers according to recognized industry standards (CEDIA Technical Reference Manual and CEA/CEDIA Recommended Practices)

  • Perform basic audio and video calibration to ensure optimum system performance
