Associate Council

The Associate Council involves and utilizes all member levels.  They are a sounding board between the CEDIA members and the Board of Directors to help maintain communication. 

Manufacturers Action Team

The Manufacturers Action Team works closely with the Board of Directors to continue the relationship between the electronic systems contractor and the manufacturer. This Action Team looks for ways to promote the manufacturer through EXPO, CEDIA education, and other CEDIA/Industry related venues.

Sales Representatives Action Team

The Sales Representatives Action Team uses its members’ unique position in the industry to foster the manufacturer/electronic systems contractor relationships by opening communication lines, thereby enhancing CEDIA’s value as a resource to its membership.

Professional Services Action Team

Members of the Professional Services Action Team offer services which enhance the prosperity of our regular and associate members.  Professional Services members represent a cross-section of independent companies that provide outsourced assistance to manufacturers, electronic systems contractors, dealers, distributors, and CEDIA itself. The existence of the Professional Services Action Team is designed for the contribution of the various consultants’ capabilities to the other members of CEDIA and also for the enhanced prosperity of the Professional Services members of CEDIA.

Distributor Action Team

The purpose of the Distributor Action Team shall be to inform, promote, and communicate the CEDIA message to its dealer base.  To uphold the high standards of integrity, business ethics, and professionalism within the distribution channel. This action team will represent all aspects of the distributor community, and work together to accomplish specific projects and initiatives set forth by the CEDIA Board of Directors.

 

CEDIA University Education Council

The CEDIA University Education Council provides educational services to industry professionals, conducive to the growth of CEDIA members and the custom installation industry as a whole.  The Education Council oversees all aspects of CEDIA University education.

ESD, ESCR, ESB, ESPM, EST Content Action Teams

The Education Content Action Teams determine objectives and deliverables of CEDIA’s education programs, and help select, develop, and revise core curriculum.  These teams also develop the format for education programs, keeping in mind the CEDIA University concept.

Instructor Pool Action Team

The aim of CEDIA University education is to ensure that students receive the highest quality education, which starts with professional instructors. The Instructor Pool Action Team is responsible for developing, evaluating, and maintaining the standards for CEDIA instructors.   

 

Certification Council

The Certification Council oversees the CEDIA Professional Certification Program, which maintains a valid, credible, and reliable national certification system based upon a sound structure and quality standards.  The council oversees the development and creation of tests and curriculum, as well as the appointment of Subject Matter Experts for each level of a certification exam.

Plan Assessment Action Team

The Plan Assessment Action Team is responsible for an annual review of the certification roadmap.  The Plan Assessment Action Team diagnoses problems and prescribes possible solutions.   The Plan Assessment Action Team also verifies that CEDIA University curriculum fully supports certification exams.   This action team is comprised of the Certification Council Chairman, the Education Council Chairman, the Technology Council Chairman, and the Content Action Team Chairmen from each of CEDIA University’s five colleges.

 

Product Review Action Team

The Product Review Action Team is responsible for the content review of all certification products.  The Product Review Action team reviews and updates content so that it accurately reflects the most current state of the industry. 

 

Industry Outreach Council

The Industry Outreach Council is responsible for promoting CEDIA globally through various trade shows, education venues and seminars that provide individuals (industry partners) with information, instruction and expertise on the custom installation industry, and the benefits associated with incorporating a certified CEDIA Member into design and build projects early in the planning process.

Industry Outreach Education and Content Action Team

This team is charged with identifying, developing, and submitting educational courses to appropriate industry partner organizations for inclusion in their respective continuing education curriculum.  Coordinating these details with CEDIA staff, Subject Matter Experts are identified to develop new courseware and keep existing courseware up to date and relevant.

Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) Program Action Team

All elements of CEDIA’s ROI program are included within this team’s responsibilities, in coordination with CEDIA staff and include the maintenance, metrics, evaluation items, and the integrity of this initiative.

Home Technology Alliance (HTA) Volunteer Action Team

CEDIA is a founding sponsor of the Home Technology Alliance (HTA), a partnership between CEDIA and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), formed to position the housing industry to effectively meet the growing consumer demand for home technology and provide maximum return on investment in the new home building and remodeling process.  Volunteers will work with staff to develop this partnership which offers education, publication, committee involvement and networking opportunities to many facets of NAHB membership.

 

Membership Council

The Membership Council is charged with providing a high level of consistent value to all CEDIA members, and to continue expanding and recruiting the industry’s finest members specializing in custom installation. The Council recommends the criteria for membership and accepts applications in accordance with the bylaws of the association and the code of ethics. The Council fosters volunteerism and mentors volunteers to serve on committees, task forces, action teams and councils. The Council provides a legislative advocacy to promote public awareness, industry growth, and the betterment of CEDIA member companies. The Council assists in membership campaigns and the overall promotion and development of CEDIA through active synergy with all other CEDIA councils.

Membership Services Action Team

The Membership Services Action Team recommends the criteria for membership, and is charged with providing a high level of consistent value to all CEDIA members.  This Action Team is also responsible for enforcing current membership requirements, as well as recruiting the industry’s finest members. 

Industry Best Practices Action Team

The Industry Best Practices Action Team is responsible for conducting research to identify and better understand the best practices of residential electronic systems contractor companies. The goal is to determine different levels of benchmarking that will provide valuable assistance for companies of all sizes and to provide new and old companies a road map on how to grow their companies in an organized fashion. The team utilizes the information gathered to inform the membership and collaborate with CEDIA University for the support of educational content.

Government Affairs and Public Policy Action Team

The Government Affairs and Public Policy Action Team is responsible for developing, monitoring and disseminating information regarding legislative and regulatory rulings affecting the residential electronic systems industry.  Furthermore, the Government Affairs and Public Policy Action Team is responsible for developing public policy strategies that promote an infrastructure of proactive public awareness that urges state and federal policy makers to create legislation that is conductive to the growth of the residential electronic systems industry, for the betterment of CEDIA Member companies.

Canada Action Team

This team will assist the Canadian Liaison with all CEDIA programs in Canada.  The main focus of this action team will be on Canadian membership, education, certification, outreach, and strategy.  The Canada Action Team will collaborate with the CEDIA staff, councils, and action teams to ensure consistency and continuity.

Latin America Action Team

The Latin America Team is responsible for direction on overall CEDIA activities and programs such as events, membership programs, outreach, education and certification to adhere to cultural standards and norms in Latin America.  The Action Team is responsible for guiding CEDIA staff in the implementation of applicable, successful CEDIA programs in the Latin America market. 

Technology Council

The CEDIA Technology Council identifies new business opportunities and risks for CEDIA members created by emerging and future technologies.  The Technology Council has created a forum for awareness, innovation and action.

Discovery Action Team

The Discovery Action Team’s mission is to gather information on trends and future technologies within the custom electronics industry. The main areas of interest include blog watching and monitoring of RSS information feeds, participating in existing and creation of new SIGs, attending and reporting from various trade events, as well as reading and posting information from trade publications and references. The other critical mission of the Discovery Action Team is to get inside the research and development departments of the leading technology developers worldwide. The inside look into the future will help CEDIA adequately prepare the membership for the future now.

Applied Information Action Team

The goal of the Applied Information Action Team is to collaborate with multiple industry subject matter experts and manufacturers to develop and publish standards, best practices, and technical white papers, through the CEA/CEDIA R10 Residential Systems Committee and as stand-alone projects. Once standards or recommended practices are written, existing courseware and examination processes are to be streamlined; thus reducing future development costs.  Best practices, codes, and standards will also build consensus in the industry, an important need that has not been fully addressed.

Crosspoint Action Team

The goal of the Crosspoint Action Team is to create a web-portal that is user friendly allowing CEDIA members to communicate with one another easily. Crosspoint enables the voices of CEDIA to address the general membership about topics and trends which are critical to the long-term prosperity of CEDIA members.

Vision Action Team

The Vision Action Team is designed to take advantage of volunteers, experiences and expertise that guide the Technology Council in the right direction. It is the purpose of the Technology Council to help ensure long-term prosperity to CEDIA membership, and it is the responsibility of the Vision Action Team to help steer the decision made by the Technology Council.

 

Sustainable Lifestyles Action Team

The goal of the Sustainable Lifestyles Action Team is to identify current and emerging business opportunities that foster CEDIA member prosperity while reducing the environmental impact of residential electronics. The Sustainable Lifestyles Action Team helps to standardize the design and installation of environmentally sustainable/green residential electronics through the creation of technical and business white papers, recommended practices, and market research. The Sustainable Lifestyles Action Team will also work to foster relationships with other associations, agencies, and businesses which represent specific areas of the green building and electronics industry.

 

 

CEDIA Events

Below are CEDIA event functions that include an annually appointed Chair who is responsible for working with other groups in the organization for support and strategic guidance.

Management Conference

The Management Conference Chair, in collaboration with the Electronic Systems Business College Chair, works to provide a world-class management development experience for CEDIA business owners and managers.  The Chairs are responsible for the creation of the format and venue for the conference, as well as for determining conference objectives and deliverables.

EXPO

The CEDIA EXPO Chair, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, is charged with providing a world class event for the manufacturing community to utilize as the marketing channel to reach the residential electronic systems contractor.  Equally important is to offer a comprehensive educational product for all experience levels in the custom electronic design and installation industry.

Electronic Lifestyles® Forum

The Electronic Lifestyles® Forum Chair, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, identifies keynote speakers, concepts, ideas, education, and all aspects of this event. Support, VIP programs, social/networking functions, and event objectives are responsibilities of this Chair.

Electronic Lifestyles® Awards

The Awards Chair works closely with staff to enhance and improve the Electronic Lifestyles Awards competition. The Chair and designated judging teams are responsible for the overall program and judging of the competition.
