Membership Requirements Change Phase II Q & A

1. What is the reason for the change?

The CEDIA Board of Directors recognized in order to support our claim as the best in the business we must take steps to ensure that our standard of excellence remains at the highest level.CEDIA is raising the bar on membership and providing membership requirements that provide CEDIA members customers and business partners with confidence in choosing a CEDIA member. Raising the bar on requirements will lead to a stronger CEDIA name and the branding of the CEDIA logo. The new requirements will make the CEDIA logo synonymous with excellence in the custom electronics industry.

2. How will the new requirement affect current members?

The new requirements will not have an effect on current members if they have at least one CEDIA Certified employee on staff. However, those members who need to obtain certification must do so by January 31, 2006. If the company does not comply by the said date they will be placed into the Provisional Membership category and CEDIA Staff will remove the company from the CEDIA Finder Service and place the company at the Provisional level. The company will have until March 31, 2006 to relinquish any CEDIA branding from all company materials or meet the requirements. This allows a sixty day (60) grace period to remove the logo or comply.

3. If my company does not meet the new requirements by January 31, 2006, will I still have an opportunity to achieve full membership for 2006?

Yes, this is an ongoing opportunity. Once you have met the requirements, notify CEDIA staff to be moved from Provisional Membership to Full Membership status and regain your full member and certification benefits.

4. How is CEDIA making it easier to fulfill this new requirement?

CEDIA has doubled the offerings of CEDIA certification in 2005. Individuals can obtain certification throughout the U.S, Canada and Mexico at CEDIA events, as well as TAG, ADI and AVAD distribution centers. Also, CEDIA is working on providing certification exams electronically via a secured proctored facility. Click here for CEDIA certification exam locations and dates www.cedia.org/certification/2005_calendar.php.

5. Is this just to help CEDIA promote its certification program?

CEDIA is a not-for-profit organization. It exists to help industry companies grow and prosper. Our goal is to provide resources to companies to aid success. Because of the new competition entering the market, and the potential for burdensome legislation, this step helps CEDIA members protect their businesses and continue to prosper.

6. Once I achieve this requirement, what CEDIA branded values are available
