Level II Job Description:
The Level II Installer
supervises and works on projects, interacts with others, installs,
troubleshoots, calibrates, and ensures that the installation
meets specifications. This individual must be a CEDIA-Certified
Professional Level I Installer with additional knowledge. This
person has at least three years of related field experience
prior to taking the examination.

Installer
Level II Exam Content:
The Installer II examination
covers the technical body of knowledge expected for a supervised
employee in this field. Major content areas covered by the
examination are as follows:
- Comprehending/managing
documentation commonly used in custom installation
- Supervising/training
other installers on an installation crew
- Managing
details of personnel, resources, and communications on a
job site
- Codes/regulations
in regards to safety, construction, wiring, and signal interference
- Advanced
skills/knowledge in installation techniques and practices
- Advanced
test instruments to measure and calibrate the performance
quality of installed devices
- Advanced
troubleshooting techniques
- Law and regulations
relating to EEOC, ADA, and the Fair-Labor Standards Act

classification system will help you determine the skill and
knowledge areas that are covered on the examination.

The Installer Level II Certification will no longer be available as of September 1, 2007. If you hold a current Installer Level II Certification as of September 1, 2007, you will be grandfathered into the NEW Advanced EST Certification.

Requirements
for Maintaining Your Installer II Credential:
The Installer Level II
credential is awarded for a 36 month period. To maintain the
active status as an Installer Level II, prior to the conclusion
of the 36 month cycle, certificants must be able to provide
documentation of completion of at least 30 contact clock hours
of continuing education units (CEU) approved by the Certification
Action Team. Certificants who do not have the required continuing
education hours must take and pass the examination within 12
months prior to the expiration date to be eligible to maintain
their certification for an additional 36 months.

Guidelines
for Communicating Your Status:
An individual who passes
the Installer Level II examination will attain the status of “CEDIA
Certified Professional, Installer Level II.” If desired,
the individual may use the abbreviated version of “Individual’s
Name, CCPI II” on his or her business cards, letterhead
or other documentation.
Professional Certification is granted to an individual;
therefore, he or she, not the company, retains the credential
as long as he or she maintains the continuing education requirements
for CCPI II. In marketing materials and other documentation,
companies are allowed to identify that they have CEDIA Certified
Professionals on staff; however, materials should not indicate
that the company is “CEDIA Certified.” When promoting
your achievement, please refer to the CEDIA
Professional Certification Policy and Procedure manual for
typography and logo use specifics.
