for Maintaining Your Home Theater Design Specialist Credential:
The Home Theater Design
Specialist credential is awarded for a 36 month period. To
maintain the active status as a Designer, prior to the conclusion

of continuing education units (CEU) approved by the Certification
Action Team. Certificants who do not have the required continuing

Guidelines
for Communicating Your Status:
An individual who passes

Certified Professional, Designer.” If desired,
the individual may use the abbreviated version of “Individual’s
Name, CHTDS” on his or her business cards, letterhead
or other documentation.
Professional Certification
is granted to an individual; therefore, he or she, not the
company, retains the credential as long as he or she maintains
the continuing education requirements for CCPHTD. In marketing
materials and other documentation, companies are allowed to
identify that they have CEDIA Certified Professionals on staff;
however, materials should not indicate that the company is “CEDIA
Certified.” When promoting your achievement, please refer
to the CEDIA
Professional Certification Policy and Procedure manual for
typography and logo use specifics.
