Class Information Details

The purpose of this course is to define the roles of the designer as a marketing expert, salesperson, anthropologist, communicator, engineer, and project manager. It teaches designers how to promote their expertise as a professional benefit. This course will explain the tool kit used by the designer for understanding the client real problem and determining the right scope of work. The course also discusses the importance for creating and evaluating prototypes, mockups and test in order to confirm compliance with the design specification.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Define design
  • Describe the role and responsibilities of a designer
  • Apply the various tools in the Design process: Identifying the Stakeholders, Problem Seeking, Design Considerations, Information Index, needs Assessment, the Evaluation, Evaluation of existing conditions, and Documentation
  • Evaluate the use of the Prototype, Mock-ups, and Testing in the design requirements

This course suggests using the free bootcamp bootleg design guide from Standford's d.school.
