CEDIA’s Industry Outreach Department has many new changes coming its way and one of the most major deals with the Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) Program, of which you are a part. This program is currently undergoing a total "overhaul", in an effort to make it an even more valuable member benefit. Since its inception, it has touched over six hundred Architects. Our goal is to consistently increase that number year after year.
The mission statement of the program, "To raise the awareness of our industry and CEDIA within residential building channels by empowering our members to deliver a consistent message through relevant high quality education while upholding the highest standards" was crafted by the ROI Action Team, staffed by individuals diligently working to review, evaluate and improve current ROI standards. To uphold these standards the team is restructuring the program to benefit everyone involved.
How does this affect you? As a current ROI, you are “grandfathered” into the existing program until December 31, 2008. However, as a new requirement, Instructors must take and pass the new “Train the Trainer” course to update their status and become familiar with new program guidelines. Please know that in addition, each instructor will be required to present a minimum of two registered courses per year and maintain a minimum evaluation rating.
CEDIA will be offering the “Train the Trainer” course three times in 2008. The first offering was held at the Electronic Lifestyles® FORUM April 30 – May 2 in Dallas, TX. The second offering was held at CEDIA Headquarters in Indianapolis, IN, August 7-8, and the third will be prior to CEDIA EXPO on Tuesday, September 2 in Denver, CO.
If you have any questions regarding the ROI program or Industry Outreach initiatives, please contact Peggy Ward, Industry Outreach Education Manager, by email at pward@cedia.org, or by telephone (317) 328-4336 ext. 164. Thank you and we look forward to your continued participation.
